Brian Jackson Craft Talk – A Life of Helping Businesses with Banking Services
Weekly Meeting August 14th, 2019
Pictured above are Club member Brian Jackson with Club President Vanessa Havener.
Brian grew up in Hampton Roads (Portsmouth) Virginia. He graduated from Old Dominion University in 1995 and moved to Northern Virginia where he started his career as a Management Trainee with First Virginia Bank in the Annandale area. From there he managed the busiest branch of Prosperity Bank and Trust in Springfield for seven years before being recruited by Capital One to be a Vice President/Business Banker.
Brian moved to Boynton Beach with his family in the fall of 2013 and after briefly working in the (more lucrative at the time) car industry as a President’s Club sales consultant for CarMax, he felt a calling to return to banking. In the summer of 2014, he joined BankUnited where he is currently employed. While his titles have changed over the years, he continues to do the same line of work: helping build and enhance banking relationships with business owners here in the greater Boca Raton area.
Brian was active in Rotary in Virginia, having served as treasurer of the North Stafford Rotary Club (with about 45 members).
He is a single father raising his 17 year old daughter, Lisa, who is in her senior year at Park Vista Community High School. Rotary has helped him teach Lisa about the importance of service above self in our community, and, as a result, Lisa has taken an active role in joining Brian at some of his Rotary service projects over the years. His partner of four years, Sheri Clark, is a music therapist with Trustbridge Hospice. She also participates with Brian in Rotary service projects when possible.
Brian used to be a historical reenactor and appeared as an extra in a major motion picture “Gods and Generals” in 2002. When time and money allow, his other interests include fishing, boating, golf, and flying fixed-wing drones.
