Luncheon Speakers

We were pleased to have Professor Geoffrey Wetherell from the Dept. of Psychology at FAU as our guest speaker on June 30, 2021. Professor Wetherell is the husband of our member Lisa Talley. Here are some of the slides from Prof. Wetherell’s talk on “Having Productive Conversations in Contentious Times.”

This week was enjoyed as a Club Assembly at the Pavilion Restaurant. At the start of the meeting, Club President Gary Hildebrand, honored Bob Buruchian with the Rotarian of the Year Award. This was supposed to be given to Bob during the Club Installation of Officers and Directors on June 16; however, he was out of town.  The Club Assembly enabled the members to dialog among themselves.

We were pleased to have Mayor Scott Singer speak to our Club at Sugar Sand Park. We were delighted to have Noelle Dayton, a Certified Holistic Health Coach (CHHC) as our guest speaker last week. Noelle has been helping people understand their amazing ability to heal naturally and holistically for over 15 years. She is a master educator and consults on the use of organic and natural ingredients in the development of natural products, along with privately coaching people all over the world. We were delighted to have Dr. Shelley Plumb as our guest speaker last week. Dr. Plumb recently wrote and published a book called To Break or Bounce: Finding Balance, Stability, and Resilience in Our Lives. It is available on Amazon at this link. Shelley’s talk was entitled "Beyond the Comfort Zone."  She spoke about the science and benefits of living beyond what is comfortable and taking risks in our lives. We were delighted to have Vytas Reid be our guest speaker this week. Vytas is the new Emmy award-winning Chief Meteorologist for the award-winning CBS 12 News at 5, 5:30, and 11 pm newscast. He is new to Florida, coming from Baltimore, Maryland, and is looking forward to connecting with the CBS 12 community. Previously he was Chief Meteorologist for WBFF FOX 45 in Baltimore for 15 years. Before that Vytas worked at Sinclair Broadcast Group's News Central weather operations in Maryland which produced weather forecasts for several television markets across the country. We were delighted to have Sarah Lucas, COO of New World Angels, as our guest speaker this week.  Sarah is the Chief Operating Officer of New Word Angels, a network of accredited private investors dedicated to providing equity capital to early-stage entrepreneurial companies with a strong presence in Florida.  She has been an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship in the College of Business and Management at Lynn University and College of Engineering at Villanova University.  Sarah graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in African American Studies and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
