Since 1957, the Rotary Club of Boca Raton has been underwriting college scholarships for local deserving students through the Club’s “Changing Lives and Building Futures” scholarship program.
This is all possible due to our generous donors and Rotarian members. These scholarships assist worthy young men and women in our community in the pursuit of their educational/career dreams who are motivated and dedicated to personal excellence.
Our Rotary Club’s Board recently decided to create three new scholarship programs at PBSC to assist students who are interested in in three career/vocational including Marine Science Technology, Automotive Mechanics,, Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Auto Mechanics.
We are now supporting up to two scholarships in three vocational/trades programs (as well as a number of general scholarships).
In addition to financial assistance, all scholarship recipients receive a personal Rotarian mentor to assist them to succeed in a life changing career for themselves and their families.
Those receiving Rotary trades scholarships the 2020/2021 school year are:
Marine Science Technology
- Brianna Martin
- Daniel Stanhoff
Automotive Mechanics
- Nathan Kengle
Heating & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technology
- Huver Mederos-Chavez
- Michael James Lauro II
The selection of these individuals was coordinated by Professor Eligio Marquez Jr., Director of Transportation Service Technology Programs and Professor Lynnmarie Highsmith, Director of Department of Industrial and Technical Programs.
Since the inception, the Rotary Club of Boca Raton’s scholarship program has aided more than 300 students with over $1.2 million dollars. The hope is that these scholars will stay in Palm Beach County and start their careers here.
Going forward, students who are attending or plan to attend PBSC are directed to apply for the PBSC Rotary Scholarships at this link.
