The Club was pleased to have Club member Westin Fengler give a Craft Talk moderated by Jeff Tromberg.
Westin was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale. His mom is a CPA and established her own public accounting firm 35 years ago. His dad is ex-pro racecar driver/automotive racing consultant and currently owns and operates a Porsche and Ferrari sportscar racing series. He has one younger brother, Garrett who lives in Tampa.
Westin graduated from the University of Central Florida in Accounting in 2013 and then an MBA in Accounting in 2015 after which he earned his CPA.
Westin is currently an Audit Manager with Keefe McCullough CPAs and Trusted Advisors, LLP. He manages and performs external independent audits of non-profit and for-profit entities.
Growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, Westin enjoys spending time on the water. He has a 50 Ton Master Captain’s license from the US Coast Guard and was a commercial captain for Sea Tow. Westin enjoys scuba diving, free diving, and spearfishing.
Westin has traveled to over 40 countries on 6 continents including sailing across the Atlantic Ocean and transiting through the Panama Canal.
During college from 2007 through 2017, Westin worked part-time as a Pyro Technician and Choreographer for Zambelli Fireworks Internationale. His major fireworks and special effects productions include the 2008 – 2014 Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, 2008 Orange Bowl, and The Oprah Winfrey Show at Radio City Music Hall.
Taking after his dad, Westin began racing Go Karts at an early age. He also raced cars and became a Professional Pace Car Driver 2009 – 2015. He was the lead pace car driver for sanctioned sports car racing series traveling to more than eight racetracks annually throughout the Eastern U.S.
Westin was invited to join Rotary by Neil Saffer. Westin said that it was time in his life to give back to the community that had given so much to him. Neil met Westin when Neil’s son and Westin were playing ice hockey.
