In September 2002, a Boca Raton High School senior football player sustained a traumatic neck injury diving into a canal along Lake Ida in Delray Beach. Senior student, Matt Cousineau was partially paralyzed in the accident. As a part of his recovery, there was significant community assistance.
The Rotary Club of Boca Raton was a key contributor in providing the ability for Matt to continue his rehabilitation at home, close to his family, friends and football teammates.
The Rotary Club of Boca Raton initiated a home remodel effort, as a Community Service Project.
Club Members retrofitted his parent’s home to include wheelchair ramps, reconfigure a bedroom and bathroom to be wheelchair accessible and Matt could have ease of use.
